About the Producer

Marleyi Córdoba has been growing coffee on El Diviso for years under conditions that would stop most people — extreme altitude, cold temperatures, and a farm she inherited alone after a family tragedy in 2018. She built what she has through "jornal al cambio," trading days of labour on neighbouring farms for days on her own.

When she expanded the farm from one to two hectares, she planted Tabi: a variety that her friend and fellow producer Jhon Jairo Gómez had shown could survive at nearly 2,000 masl. That first lot reached the international market in early 2025. This is what came next.

This Pink Bourbon is Marleyi's first-ever exportation of the variety; trees she planted with intention, believing they would produce more freely at high altitude than anything she had grown before. The processing follows the same careful method she's developed: 12 hours of cherry fermentation in a wooden tank, followed by 72 hours in sealed plastic bags after depulping, then 20–25 days drying on raised beds. The result is a cup that reflects both the terroir of Huila and the precision of someone who has earned every step of this journey.

About Semilla & Monkaaba

Marleyi is a member of Monkaaba, a smallholder empowerment initiative in San Agustín founded by Esnaider Ortega Gómez. Monkaaba's mission is to build a more equitable coffee supply chain—not just by connecting producers to better markets, but by investing in their knowledge and confidence as growers. Through weekly cupping sessions open to all, Esnaider has created a space where producers of every age and experience level can evaluate their own coffees, understand quality, and grow alongside one another.

Semilla partners closely with Monkaaba because this kind of community-rooted work reflects exactly what sourcing should look like: real relationships, shared knowledge, and producers who are active participants, not instruments, in the supply chain.
