About the Producer
At just 19 years old, Silvia Ordoñez is one of the youngest producers in Semilla’s network—and one of the most promising. Four years ago, she planted her first 1,500 coffee trees alongside her father Silvio, a seasoned grower who encouraged her to earn success through her own effort.
Today, Silvia manages her quarter-hectare plot with care and precision. Her Pink Bourbon is picked every three weeks, then processed using a double fermentation: 20 hours in cherry, followed by 70 hours in a sealed tile tank after depulping. It’s then dried slowly on a shaded rooftop elda dryer. The result is a beautifully clean, sweet, and expressive cup.
This is Silvia’s second-ever international release, and we’re thrilled to support her as she begins what promises to be a long and meaningful journey in coffee.
About Semilla & Monkaaba
Silvia is an active member of Monkaaba, a grassroots initiative in San Agustín founded by Esnaider Ortega and a group of local growers. Monkaaba’s mission is to build a more equitable supply chain by empowering producers with knowledge, autonomy, and direct access to specialty markets.
Through weekly cuppings and skill-building, Silvia has learned to evaluate her own coffees, understand quality metrics, and connect with buyers who value her work. Semilla partners closely with Monkaaba to ensure that coffees like Silvia’s—produced with care and purpose—are paid for fairly and given the recognition they deserve.
This kind of long-term, community-rooted work is at the heart of Semilla’s sourcing model—and we’re honoured to be a small part of it.
