About the Producer
Rodrigo Alberto Peláez has grown coffee at Laderas del Tapias since 2000, shifting to specialty in 2014. The estate sits in the Tapias River Canyon of Neira, Caldas. Laderas del Tapias brings together four farms (Buenos Aires, Puerto Rico, La Graciela, and Villa Inés) across 1,600–2,050 masl, with rich volcanic soils and a balanced ecosystem (70.4 ha under coffee; 25 ha preserved forest). Established in the 1930s and managed by the current owners since 1980, the farm’s name—“Hillside of Tapias”—honors the nearby river.
This natural Catiope lot highlights the variety’s heritage—born from a cross of Colombia’s classic Caturra and an Ethiopian landrace (ET41)—with a fruit-forward profile layered with sweetness and depth.
