About the Producers
This decaf lot comes from seven smallholders—Douglas Sanchez, Maria Caceres, Osmer Caceres, Benito Sanchez, Santos Edgardo Doblado, Enrique Hernandez, and Leodan Bautista—who grow Parainema, Typica, and Bourbon on their farms in the Comayagua and El Paraíso regions of Honduras, at elevations from 1300 to 1800 masl. Their coffees were washed-processed, then decaffeinated by Swiss Water in Burnaby, British Columbia.
All seven producers are part of Sueños de Semilla, a long-term sourcing project that connects small-scale farmers with the specialty market, emphasizing fair pricing, transparency, and direct relationships.
About Semilla's Work in Honduras
Semilla works with communities along the Montecillos mountain range, where smallholders have historically had limited access to quality-focused buyers and fair prices. Through fixed pricing and ongoing support, the Sueños project enables farmers to invest in their land, improve processing, and remain connected to a more sustainable supply chain.
This particular lot brings together coffees from El Paraíso, in Southern Honduras, and Comayagua, where the Sueños de Semilla project is primarily focused—two regions that differ in almost every way, from altitude to variety to microclimate, but are united by the same challenge: finding a consistent outlet to sell their coffee at differentiated, fair prices. For this iteration, lots sharing a red fruit character were selected to keep a consistent profile that translates well through the Swiss Water process.
Why We Love It
Fresh, traceable decaf is hard to find—and this lot delivers both quality and story. This is our second release of the Sueños Decaf, and it's a sweet, clean cup that retains a juicy complexity not often found in decafs. Buying this coffee supports Semilla's mission to build equity and recognition for Honduran smallholders.
